Note: You must also meet many other job requirements as well as the minimum line scores. Some jobs require you have 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 vision. Others require normal color perception, no speech impediments and good hearing. Many jobs required that you be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance.

Your Recruiter can give you this information once he or she has the unverified CAT-ASVAB Test Score Report that MEPS testing will give to you when finished taking the ASVAB.

The AFQT score is used by all branches of the Military to determine if an applicant is eligible for enlistment into that branch of service. Four of the ASVAB subtests sections are combined to form the overall AFQT score. The four sections are Word Knowledge (WK), Paragraph Comprehension (PC) Mathematics Knowledge (MK) and Arithmetic Reasoning (AR). AFQT scores are reported as percentiles between 1-99. An AFQT percentile score indicates the percentage of examinees in a reference group that scored at or below that particular score. The reference group is a sample of 18 to 23 year old youth who took the ASVAB in a national study conducted in 1997. Thus, an AFQT score of 90 indicates that the examinee scored as well as or better than 90% of the nationally-representative sample of 18 to 23 year old youth. STANDARD SCORESThe scores on the individual ASVAB subtests are reported as Standard Scores. Standard Scores have a meaning relative to the same national sample of youth aged 18 to 23. COMPOSITE SCORES or often called LINE SCORESEach Branch of the Military will use the STANDARD SCORES of each Subtests Section to come up with COMPOSITE SCORES or the Recruiter may refer to them as your Line Scores. From these scores, will determine what types of jobs or occupational specialties that branch of service will or will not offer the applicant. Here is an idea of different jobs in the Military and what sections they are going to be looking at when it comes to offering you a job...if any!
