The Armed Services Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test is a multiple choice test, administered by the
United States Military Entrance Processing Command
(MEPS). The MEPS are a Department of Defense joint-service organization staffed with military and civilian professionals. The ASVAB is administered by computer at the MEPS while a paper-and-pencil version is given at most MET sites. The computer version of the ASVAB, called the CAT-ASVAB, is an adaptive test. This means that the test adapts to the ability level of each individual examinee. Thus, it is possible to administer a shorter test than used in the Paper and Pencil exam. The Paper and Pencil test has a total of 225 questions
Special Note: The Paper and Pencil Test that is given in the High Schools and at the MET sites, is a much harder test. Typically, applicants will scores a few AFQT points Higher by taking the CAT-ASVAB at MEPS.
